Brief Introduction Of Ring Die
Ring die is the key part of Ring Die Pellet Mill in the large scale pellet plant to produce animal feed, wood pellets, poultry feed,livestock feed,aqua feed, bio-mass pellet and other granules.
The quality of ring die plays an important role in making high quality pellets and high output,also can save much maintenance cost for pellet manufacturers.

Ring die pellet mill working principle
The basic structure of the pelletizing chamber is mainly composed of these parts: the die, the rollers, feeding scraper and cutting knives.
When the machine is started, the EPT motor will drive the ring die to rotate. And the rollers will also revolve on its own axis due to the friction between itself and the die. By means of gravity and the centrifugal force generated by rotating of the ring die, material will be firmly attached to inner surface of the ring die. The feeding scraper will ensure the material to be continuously and evenly pushed forward along the die to be prepared for pelletizing.
Then the material is squeezed by the roller and the die, and with the gradually increasing pressure, the density of the material also becomes higher. Thus the material temperature will rise, which softens the lignin in it and makes it easier to be shaped. At this time, the material is compressed into the die holes and shaped into small cylindrical strips with diameters of 2 – 12 mm (depending on the size of the holes).

2. Carbon steel die
They have superior corrosion resistance, making them the choice for processing operations involving corrosive chemicals.
3. Stainless steel dies
They have the best abrasion and breakage resistance as well as good corrosion resistance.

American vacuum furnace:High vacuum degree, no oxidation reaction in ring die surface, ensuring original smoothness of die hole inner surface ,has long service life and high quality. High cooling speed ensures more even distribution of carbide hardenability and uniformity of ring die.
Relation between die hole structure and pelleting
1,Straight hole and release stepped hole
It is suitable for compound feed processing
2,External conical hole
It is suitable for the processing of high-fibre feed like de-fat chaff
3,Internal conical hole and compression-type stepped hole
This applicable for the process of herbage powder feed of light proportion
We should try to avoid using release stepped hole(pressure-relief vent)
Because discharing is not easy for holes in the rows of the edge of ring die, pressure-relief vent is designed there.
We need to maintain and check the pellet mill’s spare parts: ring dies, roller assembly,roller shell, gear shaft,screws, bearings, coupling etc. Because they are take up about 8% of the machine cost every year (primary for such as wood chipper, hammer mill and pellet mill.)
